About Dr. Fletcher
Dr. Fletcher graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, earning a master's degree in Public Administration and a doctoral degree in Political Science. She is a behavioralist with concentrations in Race and American Politics. Her areas of specialization are Public Administration, Public Policy, and Social Justice. Dr. Fletcher joined Salisbury University in the Fall of 2021 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. She teaches public administration, public policy, research methods, institutions, race, and social justice.
Her research has examined diversity effects within the public sector. Previously, she examined college campus law enforcement cultural competence levels. She has researched racist rhetoric used during presidential campaigns through the lens of Critical Race Theory (CRT). Her dissertation research examined the impact of intersectionality and LGBT status as determinants of worker turnover intention and job satisfaction.
Dr. Fletcher teaches political science, public policy, and public administration using intersectional political science pedagogy. Highlighting the practical implications of politics, representation, public management, and public policy within the lives of targeted populations. Her teaching philosophy focuses on the overarching goals of promoting critical thinking, igniting student interest in the political world, and student engagement in the learning process. She believes that these values contribute to the intellectual curiosity of adult students and produce superior learning outcomes
